Expedition 22 - 17th April 1999
Dalilea to St. Finan's Isle

After perfect weather on Good Friday it was back to the wind and the rain for this expedition.

The explorers were: Amy McM., Catherine, Claire, David John, Iain, Karen, Laura, Margaret, Robert, Ryan, Yasmin plus Stuart and Tracy (with Colin Ross).

We all drove to Dalilea Pier, then through the gate and down the old track to the monument. The explorers spent a long time looking at the monument, built to commemorate Lord Howard's son who was killed in the First World War.

We then did a long walk around the open ground as far as the St Finan's Isle pier, and then circling back over the hills to the Cuil burn where we looked at the flat stones before crossing some very boggy ground and returning to the car.

The Pictures
The monument made a big impression on the explorers, none of whom had ever seen it before. Catherine, Claire and Yasmin all drew pictures of it ; Karen drew a picture of Yasmin falling into the bog.
