Our sandy beaches are unrivalled for beauty and cleanliness, with clear, thriving rock pools, ideal for families; you’ll find these all over the peninsula but particularly at Sanna, Gortenfearn (Singing Sands) and Glenuig (Samalaman).

Wildlife hotspots where otters are common include the bays beside both the hide and picnic site at Ard Airigh, almost anywhere along the Kilchoan road, Loch Moidart (where the road runs above the water’s edge) and the south side of Loch Sunart.

Canoeists will find safe launching and satisfying days out in Loch Sunart and Loch Ailort, and sailors will find both of these lochs pose challenging and exciting sailing.

Walkers can take thrilling coastal paths such as the new through-route from Castle Tioram to Kinlochmoidart, passing the deserted settlement of Port à Bhata, from where immigrant ships sailed directly to Australia.
